Note to self: Buy the blasted program!
Enough venting.. The major obstacle I had to deal with was animating the other wing spliced into the new shoe (Since the white sneakers were not available, the gray and blue shoes were my understudy). I eventually had to stabilize the frame in order to keep said wing in place, except that it shook all over. Hopefully, this would be good for my baptism of fire in After Effects. Fortunately, I felt Final Cut Pro was much easier to handle. And this is only the beginning..

runner rough reel 2

http://homepages.nyu.edu/~vej205/runnerroughreel.mov
http://homepages.nyu.edu/~vej205/runnerroughreel2.mov
Brother, this simple project was a little more difficult than I expected. As mentioned previously, this helps to clear up the transition with the old to new running sneakers.
The old sneakers will leap off the screen with the necessary SFX, bringing the new shoes into the scene. This will give the impression of the 'changing of the guard'. The previous generation of runners(the old sneakers) is passing the torch to the new generation of runners(the new sneakers).

  http://homepages.nyu.edu/~vej205/rtscriptv2.pdf

project treatment -2nd version now pdf

   http://homepages.nyu.edu/~vej205/TheRunner.pdf

Project treatment-2nd version

I'd been attempting to convert this treatment to pdf. For the time being, I'll show this until I get to put it up as a pdf file.

Project Treatment
The Runner’s Legacy

Producer: Vincent Jones Video DVD (NTSC)
February 21, 2006 Running Time: 30 seconds

The pilot program of the weekly series The Runner’s Legacy is intended to educate one on how to begin the joy of jogging, a very safe form of exercise. Of course, it depends on how experienced you are, either if you want to get in shape for the first time, or you’re a professional wanting to hone your athletic skills, be it either soccer or a marathon.

Beginning with a jog, the sneakers are going to take us on a journey through time. The shoes are running normally for the first few seconds. Then, they will begin showing wear and tear within the next ten seconds until there are rips and bandages near the bottom of the shoes. The sneakers would make a pit stop and would run until the end of the video. Despite of the short amount of time, these same running shoes will begin from freshly worn to worn out to freshly new again. While the sneakers are running, various running participants will accompany them.

For this short, the project is very diverse, especially for those who enjoy outdoor activities. The target audience here begins with high school juniors and seniors (ages 16-18) who want to develop a desire for running, wherever it is track & field, or triathlons. This will also grow into running in college and even the Olympics. Track coaches in high school and college campuses can also use this as a tool for strengthening and conditioning their runners. The final target audience would be novice marathoners who want to get started in going to the next level in running longer distances.

To show the shoes running, I intend to use animation of the sneakers running into place, in a slow jogging pace in order to make use of both feet. With layer animation, various colors will be painted on the sneakers to show the worn out look. In the meantime, the wear and tear of the sneakers will be shown via rotoscoping for the thirty-second time period. First ten seconds: it would be running normally. Twenty seconds: the sneakers are worn out, then stop to change into a newer pair. Last ten seconds: the new sneakers will grow wings (via layer animation)and proceed on its running pace once again.

The use of multiple colors on the running shoes will fascinate the viewer. This video intends to be shown in a way that will be different than any previous runner’s/track & field magazine. There are shows today on various sports such as extreme snowboarding and the like, but never one specifically for joggers and runners. This will bring a new interested and fascinated audience who want to see this sport/hobby brought back to the limelight as it was in the past.

Script

I hope I have better luck getting the script up than my previous attempts of getting the Project Treatment.. http://homepages.nyu.edu/~vej205/rtscript.pdf

Project treatment-PDF MODE

Still trying to get this pdf file up...
http://homepages.nyu.edu/~vej205/Program%2520Treatment2.pdf

Project Treatment

I'd been attempting to convert this treatment to pdf. Technically, this would be now considered to be a Running concept now because I'm including just running shoes. It will be kept simple by having the pair of sneakers running into place, and getting worn down throughout time.
There will be a slight change of plan on the techinque. Now that the Winter Olympiad is upon us, these pictures caught my eye, The first represented the classic form of Italian architecture with the columns coming out at you. I'd think that was so because of the obvious theme of the entire world coming to Southern Europe.

The second picture is more of the same with the bright orange and red colors, with a splash of yellow and gray. I'd think this would be close to black. I'm under the impression that the designer of this piece is striving to get the traditional colors of the Olympic rings.

The third small shot shows the design applied to the ski fence. One would think that the dark colors would fall into the representation of the Summer Games, but it gives an interesting contrast to what one would think should be colors for a typical winter

When I saw this picture of an ad for the Colorado Ballet, I am reminded of a time when I dressed up as Dracula for Kean. My purpose was to be an advertisement for the stage play on campus, and succedingly seduced the other women at a festival the school was having. Needless to say, I had a lot of fun.

This picture was simplistic, and yet very creative using the tips of the ballerina's shoes to represent Vlad Tepes' fangs, which would be an afterthought if you passed by the ad. I'm assuming it was also shown on billboards, which, in my opinion would give a much better effect and would really draw the audience in.

As I shared with everyone in the first class, I enjoy smooth jazz. I like this illustration of the Manhattan Transfer album-since their roots go back to the classic bebop songs made famous in the 40's. Nice streamlined train, given with that airbrush techinique.

The ingenious mind of an artist at work (or a unreasonable facsimile thereof). I can say that because when I was growing up, I was considered to be a guy who was just a dreamer, not a guy who actually does things. (For those who are self proclaimed movie buffs, it is similar to a dreamer known as Walter Mitty). Here I am now , back in school after twelve years. People change, styles change, tastes in music change, dare I say, fashions change, too. But I digress. Faculty never changes. Which is good because they have the same aim and the same goal: To make us the best that we can be, or to coin a certain famous phrase from a classic commercial- to be all we can be.

Vince Jones-Digital Production Process

This is a test of the blogger system
